O.P.P. Police Record Checks

Attention all individuals needing an OPP Police Record Check: please be advised that there is currently a backlog of approximately 14 weeks for processing these checks, although this timeline is subject to change. If you anticipate needing a record check in the near future, it is highly recommended that you apply as soon as possible.

 OPP Police Record Checks are no longer completed at the Detachment; applicants must apply online. Questions regarding OPP Police Record Checks should be directed to customer service by phoning 1-833-909-0057 or by email at opp.virtualdesk@tritoncanada.ca. Please do not call the Provincial Communication Centre non-emergency line for questions or status checks regarding your record check.

The Point Edward O.P.P. detachment is staffed by Sergeant Rick Mathieson, ten officers, and an office administrator who serve the residents of the Village of Point Edward and provide support to Hwy. 402. These individuals are responsible for patrolling the Village as well as responding to emergency situations. In addition, they enforce a number of the Village by-laws, including the Noise By-law.

The O.P.P. contract is administered by the OPP Detachment Board. The Board Chair is currently Carolyn Leaver-Luciani, Vice-Chair Greg Grimes, Bev Hand, Louie Mele, and Doug Booth. They meet on a bi-monthly basis, normally on the second Thursday of the month. Meetings are held in January, March, May, July, September, and November. Residents are always welcome to attend the meetings.
