  • OPP Logo   Point Edward Ontario Provincial Police

The Point Edward O.P.P. detachment is staffed by Sgt. John Flesher, ten officers and an office administrator who serve the residents of the Village of Point Edward and provide support to Hwy. 402. They are responsible for patrolling the Village as well as responding to emergency situations. In addition, they enforce a number of the Village by-laws including the Noise By-law.

The O.P.P. contract is administered by the Point Edward Police Services Board. The Board is composed of Chair Jack Rand, Vice Chair Ross Laur and Mayor Dick Kirkland. They meet on a monthly basis, normally the second Thursday of the month. Residents are always welcome to the meetings.

    Contacting the Police
To call police, there are three options depending on the urgency:
    • IN AN EMERGENCY – DIAL 911
    • To have an officer attend – Dial 1-888-310-1122
    • For criminal record checks or local matters not requiring the attendance of an officer – Dial
      (519) 336-8691

    ‘Citizens on Patrol’ Program
The Village of Point Edward Police Services Board has established a ‘Citizens on Patrol’ Program to assist the Point Edward OPP by observing and reporting suspicious and/or criminal activity in the Village of Point Edward and to perform other duties, as required.

Applicants must be responsible adults and be residents of the Village of Point Edward. Criminal background checks will be mandatory. If you are interested in participating in this program, please contact the office.
