Mayor Kirkland helped the employees and owners of the Quality Inn celebrate their 2011 Platinum Hospitality Award.
The Quality Inn was recently announced as a recipient of this prestigious award from the nation's leading hotel franchise system, Choice Hotels Canada.
As a top performing property among the company's more than 290 Canadian franchised hotels, the Quality Inn hotel is among the top 3 per cent of properties within the Choice Hotels Canada system. A total of nine Canadian hotels were honoured with a 2011 Platinum Hospitality Award. As one of the company's top franchised hotels operating under the Quality Inn flag, the hotel has demonstrated an exceptional focus on guest satisfaction and dedication to providing superior service. Additional award criteria are evaluated by Choice Hotels Canada through its official property ranking reports.

Point Edward Council members recognized the achievements of 3 local boys who were part of the Jr. Rookie Braves team that captured the 2010 Ontario Baseball Association Championship.
Jaxon Lucas, Gavin Burgess and Dylan O'Rae team members of the Jr. Rookie Braves captured the AAA Ontario Jr. Rookie Baseball Championship over the labour day weekend finishing the 19 team tournament with a record of 7-1.
Coach O'Rae said that "The boys worked very hard all year to prepare themselves for this tournament and to win the very first Jr.Rookie Championship is very special". Our defence was spectacular all weekend. We only gave up 49 runs in 8 games. The Braves and the coaching staff are very proud of the boys".
